At the Panglong Conference held in Nay Pyi Taw, Sitagu Sayadaw greeted in English on 31.8.2016 and gave a speech in Burmese. He urged all religious leaders to promote their religious activities to avoid atheism by saying “Today in the west the young generations are struggling to be liberated from religion.” He also urged for mutual friendship, understanding, forbearance, forgiveness and forgetfulness.
According to him “All of the fighting, all of the conflicts any kind of the violence are due to the selfishness. Sitagu criticized UN and World’s leaders for the failure of peace and end terrorist activities. He emphasized on poverty of Myanmar. End of his speech, Sitagu showed his real character, the fuel to the flames. He said people who entered illegally from Bangladesh had no political or religious ambition; poverty pushed them to enter into Myanmar.
Sitagu indirectly referred Rohingya illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi requested not to use the term Bengali for Rohingya. Sitagu intentionally used it to damage the Panglong Conference. He urged majority Buddhists to choose President Thein Sein for second term before the election 2015.
When violence started in June 2012 in Arakan State, Sitagu gave a speech through National Media in which he warned Muslims to obey; “Buddhists are hosts and Muslims are guests, the guests must obey the hosts,” that fueled the violence.
As a head of 969 terrorist group or MaBaTha, Sitagu’s lecture to build Myanmar Iran-like theocracy was remarkable: Watch “Lecture of Neo-Nazi Group, MaBaTha’s Patron” on YouTube.
In a country, where a head of religious leader encourage people for discrimination and violence, how can it become a peaceful country? By opposing international intervention in Myanmar, Sitagu highlighted his wish against World’s leaders not to intervene internal affairs of Myanmar. According to him, let Buddhist killed Muslims, let Myanmar practices apartheid policy, no one needs to involve between us.
The ancestors of the modern Rohingya include the earliest Indo-Aryan inhabitants of Arakan. The Tibeto-Burman ancestors of the modern Rakhine didn’t turn up in Arakan until centuries later. Rohingya who have live in the country for generations, are being accused illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Though Rohingya and Rakhine are two sides of the same Arakanese coin, and both groups owe their respective identities to this context of cross-cultural exchange, State has been trying elimination Rohingya from Arakan State through State’s policy and Buddhist propaganda.
